State of Things

The rap title in French is even more baroque: Ma 6-t va crack-er. Directed by Jean-Francois Richet, and a focus of much dispute in France, this is a hard-hitting look at gangs in the French suburbs. Richet will attend the screening. (8:45)

Helena Bonham Carter and Jean-Philippe Ecoffey play a couple with Romane Bohringer and Sergio Castellito in a feature by Martine Dugowson (Mina Tannenbaum) about fashionable Parisians in their 30s; the original title is Portraits chinois. (3:15)
